Red and White Marbled Bundt Cake #Bundtamonth December

Christmas Bundt Cake

Tis the season for festive cakes! Bake a HOLIDAY themed Bundt cake this month and share it here with your Bundt-baking friends. Thanks to Lora at Cake Duchess and Anhurada at Baker Street the #BundtaMonth group has been busy creating holiday creations with Bundt cakes this month and we’d love for you to join us!

You must click this link through to Southern Living’s cake — their photograph is mouthwatering. Really lovely. I followed their recipe and made this Bundt with alternating red and plain batter. Magically once baked the two batters create a playful pattern of color. Perfect for your holiday table! I had trouble getting my cake to release from the pan, which was disappointing since I’ve never had that issue when I use Williams-Sonoma’s Bak-Klene Baking Spray. Usually the cake jumps out of the tin. Not this time but you can’t let a little thing like an imperfect cake slow you down. The icing really perked up the Bundt and we’ve been enjoying this cake not at all minding a few missing crumbs on top!

Ingredients:

1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
2 1/2 cups sugar
6 large eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon table salt
3/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa
1 tablespoon red food coloring
glaze:
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
3 tablespoons plus 1 tsp. milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

What a gorgeous swirl, Holly! I was sitting at the kitchen table with friends this morning and I had to turn the computer around to show them. We all agreed that yours is the most perfect swirl we’ve ever seen!
