Savoury Table. Yvette, her sister, Veronica, and her mother, Evangelina, together share recipes on their blog, Muy Bueno. They have created a stunning collection of recipes and food memories in their new book. I’m excited to share their cookbook in a giveaway to one lucky reader later this week. You won’t want to miss it!
Today I wanted to give you a quick taste of this easy, comforting cinnamon hot chocolate, or chocolate caliente con canela. Doesn’t it sound even better in Spanish? I think so. Enjoy this warming chocolate drink when you need to be warmed from head to toes.
Ingredients: (serves 8)
8 1/2 cups water, divided
3 cinnamon sticks
5 Tablespoons cocoa powder
4 Tablespoons cornstarch
1 cup evaporated milk
8 Tablespoons granulated sugar
1. Bring 8 1/4 cups water and the cinnamon sticks to a boil, then take off the heat and let steep for an hour.
2. Remove the cinnamon sticks (save for a garnish for later). Turn the heat to medium low and add the cocoa powder, stirring while the mixture reheats.
3. In a small bowl combine the 1/4 cup of water and the cornstarch. Whisk until smooth. Add the cornstarch and water mixture to the chocolate on the stove top.
4. Add the evaporated milk and sugar, stirring gently while bringing the chocolate barely to a boil.
