Pesto

Pesto comes in many combinations and different hues. It can serve as a dipping sauce for bread, a quick sauce for pasta, or a spread for a sandwich. Start with fresh herbs, add some cheese and nuts, then finish with olive oil and you have done it: pesto is served!

I used walnuts instead of the standard pine nuts; almonds are another option too. Use what you have in your pantry and experiment with small batches this summer until you stumble upon your favorite.
Ingredients:

1 cup of basil leaves
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
1/8 – 1/4 cup of walnuts (or other nut of your choice)
1/4 cup olive oil
1 clove of garlic
Combine all of the ingredients in a small food processor until well blended.
