My mother-in-law gave us this dish towel ages ago but I never used it in the kitchen because I didn’t want to dirty up the text and photo on the towel. My husband is English and grew up playing and appreciating the game of cricket. I, on the other hand, did not. The rules of cricket are foreign to me and this towel’s explanation really makes me laugh. I wanted to frame it but the size was awkward. Rather than paying a lot of money to have a custom frame and matting made, I chose to mount it on a framed cork board.
The cork board needed to be dressed up a bit. I first spray-painted it black, leaving the space for the towel covered, mainly just to save some paint. It would have been fine to paint the whole board.
Next I used spray adhesive on the cork board and tried to place my freshly-ironed towel in the center, pressing out as many leftover wrinkles and bubbles as I could. The adhesive kept the towel in place but to add a quick and inexpensive finishing touch, I added thumb tacks all the way around the edges.
And there you have it, an easy way to dress up your walls with minimal effort.

This is cute Holly! I love the thumb tacks all around the towel. I bet it looks great in your basement :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kelley, I think I might look for some graphic towels to try this with next time. On a smaller scale it might look fun in a bathroom or hallway. Have a great day!
