No Bake “Regular” Lasagna Noodles: Quick Tip

IMG_7364
Did you know even with “regular” lasagna noodles, that you do not have to cook them all the way through before using them in a lasagna? Here is a great tip I recently learned which greatly shortens the effort and time needed to bake with these noodles.

I hesitate to buy the regular noodles due to the lengthy preparation: boiling them for the required amount of time, hoping they don’t stick together, then rinsing them before adding them to my lasagna layers seems like a lot of effort. Why not just use the “no bake” noodles? Well, I do prefer the shape of the regular noodles—their length and shape fits nicely in a 9 x 13 sized pan.

Here is the solution: Simply place the regular noodles in a casserole dish. Pour boiling water over them and let them sit for 10 minutes. Drain the water and you are ready to assemble your lasagna. My mom had a recipe that recommended this method; she made it when we visited recently and the lasagna was delicious. Click here for the recipe.

I thought I’d give it a try today at my house and I wasn’t disappointed. The noodles were easy to prepare and after tasting the result, I never would have known that I didn’t cook them through first if I hadn’t done it myself!

Thanks so much for leaving a comment. Due to a flood of spam Anonymous comments I am going to moderate comments to see if that cuts back on the problem.
