Easter Basket (Door Decoration)

I love the idea of repurposing a sweater into a new creation. I did it a few weeks ago with a vase and this time used an old sweater of mine to form the basket of this door decoration. Here in Denver we are going from 70 degrees to 35 degrees within a span of two days, so the cold air is not finished with us yet. I liked the thought of a cozy Easter basket protecting the basket’s contents of eggs and ducks. I originally saw the idea for yarn covered eggs on a wreath featured on pinterest, which led me to this website:

I used yarn to cover some eggs in pastel colors. It helped to secure them in place by adding a craft stick and inserting them into the craft moss. Next I looked for a bit of brightness to add to the mix; I remembered these sweet little chicks that my mother-in-law made for us a few years back. The chicks are intended to contain a Cadbury egg inside. I used plastic eggs this time. (If you google “Easter egg chick buddies” you can come across some patterns for the chicks.) I wish I had the talent to demo them but sadly do not!

I wrapped the handle in ribbon and added a bit for decoration on the basket too.

Sometimes I have an idea that works out, other times I don’t. Then, there is the more confusing instance when I undecided which is which! This Easter basket fits into the last category. I am not sure if I love this spring decoration or if it is even too crafty and obviously homemade looking for my tastes. What do you think?
